Race dates are announced for 2017: March 25 and 26, 2016

 News update November 18, 2015:
The Two Rivers Marathon on Saturday, March 26, 2016, has today been named as the Pennsylvania State Marathon Championship for the second year in a row! Thank you to all the athletes and sponsors who have helped make this a great race!

Here’s an exciting review of this year’s race festival from the Junk Yard Dogs!

The secret is out!

Members of the Junk Yard Dogs of eastern Dutchess County had a strong and positive day on Saturday at a long-distance running event that might be the best kept secret on the East Coast — the Two Rivers Marathon in Lackawaxen, Pennsylvania.

David Walker of Salt Point summed up the event this way in a post-race email: “With a net downhill course, post-race lunch included and only a 1:44 driving time from our area, this is a truly underrated race. I hope the secret doesn’t get out on this Boston qualifier race.” For more information on the event, check out tworiversmarathon.com.

Walker finished in 3:40:54, a minute slower than his last attempt at the Two Rivers Marathon but still a very strong finish. He placed 10th overall. Jo “TempoJo” Blackmore of Amenia was a marathon pacer and did her job with an “amazingly accurate” time of 4:59:21 (the goal was 5 hours). She placed second in her age group. Steve Bernadete of the JYDs completed 19 miles of the race as a training run for the upcoming Boston Marathon.

Christopher Regan of Wappingers Falls finished in 24th place in the marathon in 4:12:59, an average of 9:39 per mile. The interesting thing about this event is that the same race distances are repeated on Saturday and Sunday of marathon weekend. It is a fascinating concept and event, and one worthy of further exploration to be sure.
